Overview

Welcome to the Kathmandu Valley tour organized by Royal Himalayan Holidays. A seven days luxury tour in Nepal that takes you sightseeing through Kathmandu’s 3 ancient kingdoms, with some unique and exciting activities! The Kathmandu Valley tour is made for you to enjoy the cultural and architectural wonders of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan, the 3 ancient kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley. Providing luxury accommodation and transportation during the entire Kathmandu Valley tour you’re sure to enjoy the best of the best during your stay in Nepal with royal Himalayan Holidays!

Royal Himalayan Holidays’ Kathmandu Valley tour starts with an amazing welcome dinner in one of Kathmandu’s authentic Nepalese restaurants. During this welcome dinner, a spectacular show of the different ethnic groups in Nepal will be shown by live music and dance, indeed a show you don’t want to miss! The first sightseeing point during the Kathmandu Valley tour is a visit to the local bazaar followed by a small tour around Kathmandu’s old Durbar Square. Durbar Squares are old palaces and temple sites from the time that the Kathmandu Valley was ruled by 3 smaller kingdoms; Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan. In the end, Kathmandu became the victor and named the entire valley Kathmandu. Having enjoyed the sights of Kathmandu’s Durbar Square we head off to the famous monkey temple Swayambhunath Stupa. The views of the Kathmandu Valley are incredible from Swayambhunath’s top point and after a few hours exploring around the Temple, we head to a Pashmina factory to end our first day in Kathmandu. Pashmina is a unique luxury product that can only be found in the Himalayas! Having to get a look behind the scenes at how this product is handmade into luxury shawls and clothes is genuinely fascinating. After our first day of cultural sightseeing, the Kathmandu Valley tour takes you to the Narayanhiti Old Royal Palace Museum. This unique palace museum is located in the old palace of the previous king of Nepal and exhibits the art, culture, and tradition of Nepal. Continuing on we take a short drive to the Boudhanath Stupa. This amazing and famous Buddhist Stupa is visited by pilgrims from all over the world who wish to walk around the huge white dome of the Stupa and say their prayers for prosperity and peace. With the Stupa being surrounded by charming rooftop restaurants it’s also the ideal place to enjoy lunch!

The next day we wake up early to beat traffic and leave Kathmandu behind to visit the second kingdom on the Kathmandu Valley Tour, Bhaktapur. The drive can take about 1 hour (depending on the traffic) and offers some scenery of the sub-urban in the Valley. After arriving at our hotel we enjoy a sightseeing tour of Bhaktapur’s Royal Durbar Square. There are many fascinating things to see in Bhaktapur such as the uniquely handmade potteries at pottery square, a visit to the Durbar Square museum, and a look behind the scenes of one of Nepal’s oldest paper factories. Having enjoyed the culture and sights of Bhaktapur, we have an early wake-up the next day as we prepare to drive to the last of the 3 kingdoms, Patan. Before driving to Patan we make a quick stop at Sanga, where one of the highest Shiva statues rests. At Sanga, we can enjoy the views as the place is located up high on a hill, and after a reasonable hour, we depart for Patan.

Arriving at Patan’s Durbar Square you can directly see the difference between Bhaktapur and Kathmandu’s Durbar Squares, as Patan has more Hindu Temples and is most famous for its Krishna Temple. We explore around Patan’s Durbar Square, visit the uniquely hand-carved woodshop, and enjoy a well-deserved lunch at Patan’s Museum Café!

Ending our Kathmandu Valley tour, the last day is reserved for you to relax and enjoy your last day in Nepal, with Royal Himalayan Holidays.
